Seventh Generation Giveaway!

As you all know from reading this blog, I'm a fan of all things "green" and environmental friendly. Although most of the time I focus on the food aspect of this, I do like for it to spread to all other aspects of my life and home as well!

Recently I contacted Seventh Generation to see if they would be interested in providing my wonderful readers with an opportunity to win some great cleaning products. They ever so graciously agreed, and sent me a package to try out and review, as well as providing you with the chance for my readers to win the same package!




I received my package a few days ago, which happened to be my housecleaning day, so I got started using them right away. The items I received were:

  • Disinfecting Multi-Surface
  • Disinfecting Bathroom
  • Disinfecting Wipes
  • Laundry Detergent - Free and Clear 32 oz
  • Liquid Fabric Softener - Free and Clear 40 oz
  • Dish Liquid
  • All-Purpose Cleaner
  • Auto-Dish Pacs
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Natural Paper Towels
  • Seventh Generation Recycled Bag
Let me just tell you, I love them all! The disinfectant spray has Thymol in it, which is a component of thyme oil. It is not considered "free and clear" because of the scent, but it dissipates quickly and it is really a pleasant smell (it basically makes the room smell like Thyme).  According to the Seventh Generation Website, the disinfecting products "kill over 99.99% of household germs, specifically: Influenza A, Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa on hard, nonporous surfaces." Since I am not only a clean freak, but also a germ freak, this is especially important to me. I want to know that I am cleaning off my surfaces, but also disinfecting them for future use. 

 The variety of items I received allowed me to clean my whole house, leaving no surface untouched! I was a little hesitant to try the laundry detergent, since I normally have bad allergies to detergents, which makes me break out in hives, but I have had a great experience with that as well. I don't know that I would have tried the detergent on my own because of this allergy, but since I got it in my package I was more than happy to try it out. There are only a few detergents that don't make me break out, so I am glad that I have another (greener) option now, and I will definitely use it again in the future.

 I feel confident saying that I would recommend the Seventh Generation products, especially since they almost always have coupons available that can help to defer the expense. I am pleased that I was able to clean my whole house from top to bottom, and in the process I didn't feel like I was poisoning my family by using products that have so many added chemicals and "cleaning agents." I look forward to using these products again, and having my house be sparkling and clean in a non-chemically induced way!

    I would be most excited to try their dish soap; as I wash all of my daughter's bottles by hand using regular dish soap & sometimes I worry that even though I wash them very thoroughly that I might be passing on chemical/cleaning agents that could be dangerous.
